B-Roll capturing the interment of the Pattillo Brothers. Lt. Gen. Charles “Buck” Pattillo and Maj. Gen. Cuthbert “Bill” Pattillo served as the Thunderbirds’ first left and right wing pilots in 1953 and 1954. During their interment today at Arlington National Cemetery, we performed the team’s first-ever dual missing man formation. Our current left and right wing pilots, Maj Ian Lee and Maj Lauren Schlichting, honored their predecessors as they were laid to rest with a maneuver we’ve dubbed the “Pattillo Pull.”
Precision in the sky. We had a great time at the KC Air Show in New Century, KS! Alongside nearly two dozen other performers, we showcased the precision of the U.S. Air Force and the professionalism of nearly 700,000 total force American Airmen across the globe.

The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, performs precision aerial maneuvers demonstrating the capabilities of Air Force high performance aircraft to people throughout the world. Being a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School, Lt. Col. Justin Elliot, USAF Thunderbirds Commander, returns to Edwards Air Force Base to perform at the 2022 Aerospace Valley Air Show using the skills he learned where he was previously a student.

The team performed nearly 70 shows during the season, representing the pride, precision, and professionalism of nearly 700,000 total force American Airmen across the globe.
Aerospace Excellence. It was an amazing weekend headlining the Aerospace Valley Air Show at Edwards Air Force Base! Not only did we get to perform on the 75th anniversary of the first supersonic flight, but at the very place where it happened. The Aerospace Valley has a rich history of aviation achievements. This performance was a celebration of everything the base, the United States Air Force, and our fellow Americans have achieved.
Saluting those who serve. Our time with the @airshowac was short but very sweet. They dedicated their show as a salute to those who serve, whether it’s military members, first responders, or community leaders. Thank you to all who have served, are serving, and will serve. See you next year!

Thunderbirds 2022: Disney Flyover, Orlando Air and Space Show

The Thunderbirds not only performed a flyover at The Magic Kingdom, but headlined the Orlando Air and Space Show! The trip to Florida wrapped up the team's 68th show of the 2022 season, with only one remaining show at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.
Pride. Precision. Professionalism. It was an honor to headline the Frontiers in Flight Open House and Air Show held at McConnell Air Force Base, KS! More than half of our team’s aerial refueling support is provided by none other than McConnell AFB.
Pursuing excellence. The Montana Military Open House in Great Falls, MT marked our 40th air show this season and the first of four stops for us in the next few weeks. Here’s to continuing the pursuit of excellence in the name of something greater than ourselves.
