The United States Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron “Thunderbirds” fly over San Antonio, May 13, 2020. The flyover was part of America Strong; a collaborative salute from the Air Force and Navy to recognize healthcare workers, first responders, military, and other essential personnel while standing in solidarity with all Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Air Force Thunderbirds soar over Anderson Hall, one of several medical instructional facilities on the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC), May 13 as students and staff show their appreciation. METC conducts enlisted medical training for Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. While most of these young men and women will augment military medical teams in the COVID-19 response effort worldwide, one third of them are National Guard and Reserve members who will return to their local communities to continue the medical response mission.
